I-10 along Bonnet Carré Spillway closing for repairs Sunday – WWLTV.com

The repairs are needed after a Bell 407 helicopter crashed onto I-10 on Tuesday afternoon.

NEW ORLEANS — I-10 alongside the Bonnet Carre Spillway Shall be closed for 5 hours on Sunday, Dec. 19.

Based mostly on Entergy, crews Shall be making repairs to the transmission system all by way of that 5 hour span.

  • I-10 East Shall be closed at US51 in LaPlace. Visitors Shall be diverted to US 51.
  • I-10 Eest Shall be closed at I-310 in Kenner. Visitors Shall be diverted to I-310 South.
  • I-55 South wil be closed at US 51 in LaPlace. Visitors Shall be diverted to US 51.

The repairs are needed after a Bell 407 helicopter crashed onto I-10 on Tuesday afternoon. Entergy Louisiana said that the crash triggered damage to transmission infrastructure and knocked out power to round 20,000 clients. 

“All indications are that the helicopter coming into contact with our strains triggered the outage,” an Entergy spokesperson said. “As quickly as The state of affairs is protected, We’ll assess damage to our gear And start making needed repairs.”
